Dear Spider...

Dear Spider...

I know it is that time of year that you emerge from wherever and start building your web. I'm sure my neighbors and I appreciate the effort of you and your fellow eight legged friends in your attempt to rid our neighborhood of flying, irritating bugs like flies and mosquitos while feeding yourself and your family.

But Spider, a word of advice. When I come home at night, in the dark, walk up my steps, with my hands mostly full in attempt to retrieve my mail and unknowingly walk smack dab into the middle of your webkingdom, you are in for a serious spidie ass kickin'.

Nothing, except maybe being held up or hit in the head with a shovel, is quite as alarming as some sticky ass web material surprisingly draped across my face while thinking where your creepy, eight legged, blood sucking ass is.

In the future, if the crazed physical response to my startled reactions of running into your ill placed web didn't kill you, the big industrial sized can of Spider-b-Gone I'm going to buy today, will.

Now go find some other flying insect drawing light to build your empire upon.

'bout Wet Myself

Soooo....I'm on my way to work yesterday. As I'm heading south out of Bartonville, I'm cruisin' along around 63-ish in a 55. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, this HUGE frikkin' (Air National Guard, I'm guessing) helicopter appears above the trees!! HOLY SHIT!!!! Where the hell did THAT come from???!!!

Ok, Bartonville, Peoria County and State Police, I realize this isn't the best place for you guys to hide and catch speeders, but this is ridiculous!!!

See You Around The Table in Manito....

This One's for Emtronics

I know how much faith Randall has in our local weatherpeople, so I dedicate this post to him.

On my way to work this past morning, I'm listening to Bob & Tom. During the commercial break, a (presumably taped) weather report from Chuck Collins came on informing us that it was 38 and sunny.

Pretty funny. That must have happened right AFTER I left Peoria, because in Pekin, I was driving through enough dense fog to wash my Tracker. All I needed were a few guys from Red Carpet to rush out from behind some bushes along Route 29 to do a quick interior wipe down and spit shine the bumpers.

Shameful Self Promotion

Well, the new restaurant I'm running is about ready to open. By this weekend we'll be servin' it up. Yeah, it is a bit of a hike to Manito, but for the sake of adventure, come and see us anyway... (just pay reeeeeeeeaaaal close attention to that 30 mph speed limit in Pekin if you are coming from that direction...)

The menu is here

Yes, it is pretty much a lunch menu that runs all day. We plan to run some dinner specials starting next week. Right now, we are too small of an operation to be running too big of an ongoing menu.

Gas N up.

Unleaded Plus gasoline price in Peoria, IL: $2.78 - $2.83

Unleaded Plus gasoline price in Manito, IL $2.63

OK, I realize you aren't going to drive to Manito to save .15 - .20 a gallon, but it makes you wonder why the big difference.
